There are multiple options of sharing and distributing Power BI reports/dashboards (apart from embedding in your web application):

  1. Sharing directly to other Power BI Pro users from Power BI portal (app.powerbi.com). Row level security can be added to restrict access to data.

2. Power BI Apps (Reports and dashboards can be published and delivered as apps): https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/distribute-to-large-audiences-with-power-bi-apps/

3. Share/Embed in a public website:

4. Publish to sharepoint online: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-embed-report-spo

5. Export to PowerPoint (Preview feature)

6. Export to PDF: latest version of Power BI desktop (August 2018) supports the export to PDF option. It can export a report containing multiple pages too. This is pretty useful for sharing reports to non Power BI Pro users. The reports will be non-interactive and won’t support any drill-down though.

7. Scheduling reports to be sent is a planned feature for PowerBI

8. Recently, a new method called ‘Secure Embed’ has been added for securely and easily sharing Power BI content with users. It’s similar to ‘Publish to Web’ option but secure so only authorized users will be able to access the content. This method supports reports with RLS.

I found a really good link about various Power BI content sharing. It’s here: http://radacad.com/power-bi-sharing-methods-comparison-all-in-one-review
